gab_fueHi, I am Gabriela Fuentes. I was born in Ixtapaluca, a small town in the State of Mexico, Mexico. I lived there for many years. I attended Escuela Normal de Chalco (Chalco Teacher- Training School) in the same state where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in the area of Social Sciences. Two years later, I attended Centro Academico de Estudios Superiores (Academic Center for Higher Studies) where I earned my Master degree of Science in Educational Psychology. I also completed a one year professional program in Educational Research Methodology at the Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación del Estado de México (Higher Institute of Education Sciences of the State of Mexico.)

I have taught in elementary, middle and high school, as well as college. I also had the opportunity to train teachers in Mexico. I moved to Santa Fe where I worked as a Social Studies and Spanish teacher at De Vargas Middle School and Tierra Encantada Charter School respectively. My experience working at both schools helped me to strengthen my teaching and to grow professionally.

I am so excited to be part of Cien Aguas International School. Being a second language learner myself, English, I hope to spark the interest of my students in language study, linguistics and language acquisition. I do believe in diversity and the importance of  bilingualism as a means of lifelong and self sufficient learning.

One of my goals as an educator for this year is to nurture not only proficient readers and writers but speakers and listeners as well.

I love hiking, dancing, traveling and making friends. I am excited to begin my fifth year teaching at Cien Aguas International School!!
